Arkansas, 1949. Petunia Hollings, after a childhood spent toiling in cotton fields, sees her dreams of true love realized and is whisked away to Chicago for a new life, leaving behind her family and her best friend, Opal.
However, a return to Arkansas reunites Petunia with Opal, only to find themselves ensnared in danger.
As the situation escalates to life-threatening, Petunia faces a critical decision: abandon her friend or stand with her against the peril.
